Next Saturday my buddy and I are running our second race, and our first 8km. We have totally psyched ourselves out. It doesn't help that it's being run in Toronto High Park - Harry's Spring Run Off - and that there will be a lot of hills. We train with our strollers, mainly in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, so hills are not high on our repertoire. We are feeling under trained and freaked out. A little panicky. We must get over this and just enjoy it. Is it a bad thing or a good thing when you consider running 8 km uphill a nice "break" from being with your kids????
This has led me to many attempts to eat healthy through Easter Weekend and as much last minute prep as possible. I tried my first HOT Yoga class yesterday. Spent the rest of the day with a bad headache and a bit of puking. Not sure if I'll do that again :(
This morning, while my boys chowed down on Easter Eggs I made a smoothie. I like smoothies. They got me through both my pregnancies. But this one I had a little trouble with. My friend D gave me the recipe:
1/2 cup spinach
1/2 cup strawberries
2 tbsp Greek yogurt
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp flax seeds (didn't have so I used walnuts)
Water
Anyway, smoothie was rather tasty. I'll definitely make it again. Now I'm off to ice and decorate two cakes for Easter Dinner. And there is a bag of W's for decorating. It's an uphill battle. Next year I'm volunteering to bring the vegetables. Sigh....
Edited to add: I looked up honey and bananas. Honey is 60 calories and 16g of sugar per tbsp. A whole banana is 105 calories, 14.4 g sugar, 3.1g fiber and a whole bunch of calcium, iron and vitamin A. So I figured 1/2 a banana was a MUCH better plan. And I like the taste better.

I love smoothies, start everyday with one, I'll share my 2 minute recipes. . . Natural honey has so many antibodies you do not want to miss out on, it is a lot sweeter than sugar so maybe try cutting the amount to a tsp.
