Just Needed to Finish Something

It has been a long time since I've done a BIG afghan. The one I knit over the summer  doesn't really count as it took me something like 6 years to complete after it was a sweater and several other things first. And it wasn't a full size blanket. And it was knit in plain stocking stitch.  Anyway, right now I am working on the Mason-Dixon log cabin and I am LOVING it but not seeing an end in sight. Anywhere.

When you make the first square and then do your first round you're going like gangbusters. It seems to go so fast. And it's EASY. So easy. And then the rows start to get longer. And that's okay too because you just knit and knit and knit. And it's lovely. The boys like to snuggle up beside me while I work on it. It's been keeping me warm this cold cold winter (-23'C with windchill in an old drafty house make warm cozy blankets very popular). And I love snuggles. But it's getting big. Casting off and picking up stitches takes longer. It's too big to carry around anymore. And it's too big to knit at the table while the boys are eating p..a...i...n...f....u...l...l...y slowly.  So it's become tv knitting. Which is great but I don't really just sit and watch tv all that often.

Plus, I desperately needed to finish SOMETHING. I have a great need to cross things off my to-do list. And one thing I intended to do this year was finish a pair of socks a month and put them away in the Christmas basket (Harlot's idea). It will make December a little less crazy (yeah right)and will easily fill up Mom's stocking. So that's my plan. I grabbed some stash yarn and whipped up a pair of plain Vanilla socks. My own weird pattern (toe-up with the heel grafting on the bottom b/c that's where Mom wears them out the fastest!) Took me three days. I feel MUCH better!

One pair down, twelve to go.
Too bad it's halfway through February already. Must get working....
Oh hey, look at that. Another pair just cast themselves on!

Those are some cute socks!

For the Star Wars Valentines, they are editable if you know how to remove things in Photoshop and add in. It's not a file that has fields to change things, if you understand what I mean.

The little sweater you made sounds cute! Are you on Ravelry?

I couldn't believe I got 1 year almost use out of the laundry detergent either!

I don't have your email address to reply to you, so if you can email me that would be great! knitpurlmama at gmail dot com
